During the 7th, 8th and 9th of May we were in Murcia as collaborators of the 19º National Congress of Surgical Nursing.. It was our first time at this meeting, a key space for the surgical block, which we attended with a great desire to listen, learn and share about the trends and needs that mark the day-to-day life of healthcare organizations.
Under the slogan “Technique and heart in care”, the congress brought together professionals from the surgical block in a format of exchange of experiences and learning. The scientific program addressed issues such as legislation and safety in the surgical environment, nursing leadership, scientific communication, technological innovation and sustainability in the operating room.
A common goal that was repeated in many of the sessions was clear: to improve healthcare from a holistic perspective, working on:
- Standardization of digital processes: moving towards unified clinical guidelines and protocols that guarantee quality care based on updated scientific evidence.
- Checklists: essential tools to minimize errors, especially at critical moments. They played a leading role in discussions on the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and other European regulations. One of the points we were also able to hear about during the Symposium on Modelling and Optimizing the Health and Care Workforce that we attended the same week.
- Lean methodology: as a strategic approach to reduce inefficiencies, improve processes and place the patient at the center of care.
- Technology and innovation: with a critical and practical look at which tools add real value to healthcare practice.
This is where a solution such as BOLD QUIR makes sense. As a specific module of the BOLD Workplanner integrated planning system, BOLD QUIR responds directly to the needs of the surgical suite.
- Organizes personnel and resources efficiently and in line with the reality of the block.
- Ensures compliance and follow-up of key protocols: breaks, schedules, shifts per service, competences…
- Guarantees traceability and documentary evidence for audits, regulatory compliance inspections, as well as readaptations according to the needs of the organization.
- Facilitates coordination between areas, integrating all information for global planning, communication and follow-up.
We took away from the Congress valuable reflections and a better understanding of the challenges faced by surgical blocks, which allows us to continue fine-tuning BOLD QUIR to respond more closely to the real needs of the care environment.
